Blue Goose Produce: Newsletter
October 2011
We still have excellent late season peaches, nectarines, plums, and pluots. The persimmons will be here at the end of the month. The fall gourds, pumpkins, and cornstalks are here for your holiday decorating. And the mandarin oranges appear to be on schedule this year. We expect to begin picking them in mid-November. The crop looks excellent!
We have wonderful, good-for-you, ranch style meats. Sinclair Family Farms, just up the road in Penryn, provides us with some of the best lamb in this area. Their lamb is grass fed, hormone-free, and grazed the old fashioned way. You will enjoy the mild yet flavorful taste.
We also have excellent grass-fed beef. Our steers are hormone and antibiotic free. They are raised stress free and allowed to roam our rolling Newcastle pastures. If you have never tried grass-fed beef, you are in for a treat. Try the ground beef. It makes a truely "old fashioned" hamburger.
In 1997, Loomis residents, Ron and Tressa Cooper, founded Earth and Vine Provisions. They believe that there is no place for preservatives or anything artificial in their products. After all, our hot summer days and cool nights of our foothills yield some of the most flavorful fruits and vegetables. Tressa is a true culinary explorer, and Earth & Vine's jams, dressings, sauces and marinades are unlike anything else on the market. We have one of the largest assortments of Earth & Vine Provisions. Ask for samples. Click here for more information "Earth and Vine".
